Ah. Everything that I typed disappeared. Just. Like. That.
Oh wells. The past week had been hectic. Do I always say that? Somehow I'm running around everywhere everyday. I hope tomorrow will be a slacker day...Anyway, wednesday to friday was fun fun fun! I went to the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) for this cancer metasis workshop. Or rather, I thought it was about cancer. I was quite relieved when I saw Demi and Yvelyn! I was afraid i'd be some loner. brrr. scary thought. Before the safety briefing, the instructor was "sorry that the programme had to be changed". He said if we're disappointed we must talk to him or something. I wasn't really paying attention so i guessed as long we're learning something, it doesn't really matter. Did I mention the safety briefing included General safety, Chemical safety, Radiation safety and Fire safety. Yes, it was THAT long. Oh and they showed us the floor plan of the building. the 4th level actually, where we "hung out" most of the time. When we got to the lab, I realised what we were doing. Polymerase Chain Reaction. Which was exactly what i learnt at the DNA workshop during the holidays. just in much greater detail. ahhhh. why. i wanted to learn something new. this is disappointing.Basically, we'll be in the lab the whole day doing...stuff. On Wednesday, we intended to go to Holland V for lunch (which is 1h 30mins:D) but somehow ended up at this food court. we tried exploring for a while but gave up. oh there was this shop selling the peanut/coconut kueh so we wanted to try it. There weren't many people queueing before us but i felt like there was a hundred!! My gosh. the person is so super slow she makes a tortoise look like it won the Olympics. I queued for the first 10mins then demi took over. haha Yvelyn went on about the "patience is a virtue" thing. so cute. I wanted to give the stallholder some advice, like get a helper or something!! Or another big...baking thing. not exactly baking. hai nevermind. finally, we got our long-awaited pancakes. haha. it wasn't that bad. but if it sucked, i would have complained. haha jkjk. so after lunch we took a shuttle bus back and continued doing...stuff. i'm kinda used to the micropipette now. at first, it felt so unnatural holding it. oh i can just faint doing the conversions of microlitres and adjusting the micropipette volume. now everyone knows the reason why i don't take physics. haha. We did Agarose Gel Electrophoresis too. This time, i got to see the current flow and everything, it was more hands on. for the other workshop, we just filled the wells. haha the fun part was loading the wells, though my DNA thing always diffuses a little. ahh. lack of pipetting skills. Thursday was kinda the same. we were in the lab the whole time doing...stuff. okay i'm just calling it stuff cos half the time, i had no idea what i was doing. Oh and on this day, i suspected that i was born to humiliate myself everyday of my life. [comon practice on my blog to emit the embarrassing details of the blogger's life except when it's unbelievably hilarious she has to share it with the world] So i was doing stuff in the lab right. Yvelyn and i were pipetting stuff into other stuff so i stood up to change my pipette tip and somehow, during that one milisecond, my chair eloped with its secret lover, leaving me to plop down on an imaginary one and laughing at myself...in the "haha glenda, it's not a surprise that it's you!" kinda way. okay i'm not making sense. We decided to explore a little more so we went to Holland V for lunch. Walked around quite a while before making our minds. we were hungry after walking and hesitating for so long. Yay Swensen's!:DD I had mac 'N' cheese, Yvelyn and Demi got a Spaghetti Bolognaise each. Haha i think Demi's in love with taking photos. We took pictures of our dessert. okay the biscuit wasn't that appealing but it was nice:D Demi left after lunch cos she had a dental appointment, abandoning the 2 of us. So we went back, thinking we were late. haha. had time to listen to music before the thing started so i guess we weren't. the two of us kept talking about what they might be doing at dance/guides now and it was so funny. at 3.35pm, Yvelyn looked at the clock and said, "hai, they must be taking attendance now...." with the "i'm at faraway land and never coming back" look.Thinking bubbles
3.45pm: Dancers must be doing warmups now. Guides must be starting fire now. (Yvelyn)4.45pm: Dancers must be practicing like mad and i'm sitting here pipetting weird stuff. and ahh i dunno how much to pipette into this!! Guides should be having sing-a-long now.By the time it was 5pm and it ended, i decided i missed dance so much i had to go back. so i did:D Yvelyn wanted to go back too...but didn't in the end. and 1min after i got up the car, she sms-ed me: Glenda!! i regret not going with you!! hahaha. so hilarious. oh and in the process of pipetting stuff DROPWISE, we also decided to go for the youth day concert the next morning. We forgot we could wear anything we wanted!! haha. we were like, "so tomorrow wear uniform to school..watch the concert, change, and leave okay! set." haha sound like a retard. Friday was funfunfun! The concert was really...entertaining. haha so glad i was there cos ms lim came back! woohoo! it was so funny! so we left for imcb around 8.30am. we were a little late..cos of a little hitch in getting a shuttle bus. we went to this stop and apparently 2 shuttle buses passed by us. haha and we were appalled so we walked further down where there was some hope of getting a bus. okay so we finally got there and did stuff, as usual. haha. this time, we went to food junction at holland village. haha i always talk bout lunch like it's the highlight of the day. quite exciting, no? okay i'm weird. We tried the peach yoghurt and got a free badge each. so cute! 3 of us had the same design and proclaimed it the "Symbol of Friendship". [i know, the things you do after being cooped up in the lab for almost 3 days...hai...imagine.] then we went to the skybridge to take funny photos with our "Symbol of Friendship" pinned on. my gosh. it was hilarious. cos people would so often walk by and wonder what these 3 girls are up to. oh, we went to the zebrafish facility to look around. it was quite interesting how they keep the fishes and a bit heartbreaking at the same time to know what they do to them, small adorable creatures. At first, the 3 of us wanted to leave at 3pm to go Nanhua to collect cotumes. ahhh. Had a tiny miscommunication with Xiu but it's okay, i really wasn't upset!! so we stayed at imcb till the end, abandoning our plan to leave early...haha. i kinda miss that place...7pm: had to rush home to change for Soundwaves 2008. my mum sent me to esplanade and when i stepped into the foyer..."Attention all: the concert in the theatre is going to commence in 1 minute. Please make your way to ..." I was like omg omg omg and went into some kind of frenzy. i rummaged for my ticket. gave it to this entrance looking man. turned out he was the security guard. [told you i had to humiliate myself once everyday!!] but he tore the ticket stub and let me in anyway. ran all the way to door 8, so freaking far. haha. and found my seat just before it started. Sat between Xiu Xian and Jou Teng, with my ahma and eudz a few seats away:DD it was so awesome!! my gosh. They had Chinese dance, indian dance, modern, TAP!! and ballroom! how cool is that. i bet my mum was tired of hearing my vivid description of the concert, how wonderfully amazing it was, and how much i needed to learn ballroom dance. loved it so much. slept so late that night, i woke up at 11.30am the next morning. haha i don't think i ever woke up so late.Todaywent to watch Meet Dave premiere with edwin and 3 mini humans this morning. yes, at 10am in the morning. no idea why it's at this time. oh wells. it was quite funny. i guess it's suitable for those who don't mind ridiculous and impossible fictional stories. the amusing part is when Dave tries to fit in on earth. yep. haven't done anything meaningful/related to school these few days. ahhh. i feel so motivated. NOT. there's school tomorrow! at least there won't be monday blues:D do i even have monday blues??? okay i shall attempt being productive today.Labels: interesting/exciting days
